The part G almost done. Tests coming soon. It's the first start of my part G. It makes a lot of noise, I need to grind the brushes. Aprox 1000 min-1, I'm using 24V instead 36V.

Awesome work Creasysee, looks like a winner. yes the precision flat surface does help with the chatter and sparking along with good brush seating. i need just a few more things to test mine so i can not wait till tax return comes in to complete. i need to purchase some amp/voltage meters for my testing as i have an oscilloscope already.

I had finished my 100 volt power supply and assembled it yet still need to test it. am looking for a box to put it in with the variac knob facing the front for adjustment of the voltage. i also have a volt/amp meter that will be mounted on the face along with a power switch. basically a power supply that can output 100 volts at three amp max with a CLC filter for smoothing and a power resistor to confine the amperage to three amp max.

Hi all.
Building cores in progress: I'm using a hand made guillotine for cutting laminations: The first layer is wound, inductance 0.24 mH: The core size 2.5cm x 4cm x 10.5cm (0.99" x 1.6" x 4.13"). The first layer has 47 turns 1.8mm (AWG13).

That's what i am talking about, taking an existing core or material and modifying it to suit your needs. great design on the guillotine cutter and core look very good. remember secondaries can be larger to take advantage of the bulging fields of the opposing primaries. and yes in this case neatness counts and using a bobbin makes things much easier to wind. more on the guillotine cutter to help others would be nice.

Hi all,
I'm using this tool for polishing the ends of cores:
I wound 2-nd and 3-rd layers on core and have the following total inductance (layer by layer): 1-st - 0.24 mH 2-nd - 1.03 mH 3-rd - 2.24 mH
I think (by eye) for 17 mH I need to wind 6 layers. So, I think I will not wind 34 mH (this stores double enery), I will use 5 triplets at 17 mH, and later increase the number of triplets based on the measurements in test results.

Hi Creasysee this is great idea I have just about for square all my cuts this is my assembly for first build All cores are from recovered MOT moddle part is cut and used as secondary core thar part needs to be square off Attachments:

No I will not open outer I have find out that it is helping to greatly increase inductance in coils due common core . Length of secondaries are just 3 times smaller then Primaries due Geometry of cores System is set up to work on opposing poles as N-N, S-S, N-N, S-S ...... secondary output will have two phases obviously cutting of cores was done with help of band saw from HAreForbes www.machineryhouse.com.au/B002

Your cores look almost the same length to me in the pic. if people do not believe me just wire up a primary that you are going to use in your system and power it with a few amps. what you will find out that each core will project a magnetic field out the exact length of the core itself. what this means is a 3 inch core will project a 3 inch magnetic field which can be done on your own bench. with a gap and the length of the secondary the magnetic field can not even reach the opposite end of the secondary let alone have another primary placed to compress the field lines it they are the same length. what i did find out though is a south field will project out 1/4 inch farther then that of a north field. very weird the south field is stronger to say the least.
I will add that if you place a NN core next to a SS core it will siphon off the flux from the NN to the SS which will lower the field line pressure. you can not have two different pole faces next to each other because of the compression of the fields causes them to be even closer to each other and it will magnetically short to the shortest distance or path to the opposite pole always. heed this warning people.
excellent use of motts i might add as they do come in handy and you already know what the cores can output as per the total wattage divided by the weight giving watts per lb of material. Nice saw to have.
